Poly fest learning story

Polyfest learning story

Mita mita ga tasi tasi sau.”
Hello, have you ever been to Hosanna Church ? Well I have. Anyways the name is Mel.

On the  10th of August at Hosanna Church, Corinna School participated in an event known as Polyfest. Polyfest is a NZ wide event that many schools, groups (etc) are involved in. It’s a way for children and adults to communicate a story about their culture through song and dance.

On the day I performed the key competencies I used were supporting others when they are on the stage so they can feel confident and happy, being responsible of my stuff and using respectful words to others.

I was good at learning the words off by heart and singing it like I am a superstar that is going to be famous,I was bad at looking forward but instead I was looking at the floor like a sad flower left in the rain all alone .

I felt kinda nervous but at the same time I was happy to make my Mum and Dad happy and proud like I just won a $1,000 cheque.

When I took my first step on the stage I knew it was time to shine bright like a diamond! I felt my sweaty palms  because I was so nervous I was going to puke in front of the audience.

I saw people getting ready to flash their camera light at me and my Samoan group,I also saw my Mum,Dad and sister sitting way at the back.

When i came down from the stage I heard everyone cheering for the Samoan group,When i sat down i was cheering for people who tried there best

Mel's art learning story

Art learning story

“Drawing is honesty of the art.T here is no possibility of cheating it is either good or bad.”

What we have been learning:
In art we have been learning how to communicate important information and ideas about my identity using a surrealist style?

What is surrealism?
What is surrealism you say, well I was just about to tell you. Surrealism is a cultural movement that began in the early 1920s in France. It is a style of art where half is art and half is real.

What I need to work on:
I need to work doing nice light lines on my real one so that it can look nice and real when I put on the wall.
What I was good at:
I was really good at choosing my contrasting colors when I start on my real one

Success I used well
The S.C I used well was making it look real and not worrying about if it doesn’t look the same

In my class we are doing surrealism art it's a type of art where you make something look real but its not. Like this

What other people think about me and my art:
Kaylah-I think that Mel is very good at using light lines on when start’s on  her real  art and she doesn’t really care if it looks the same or not
Sareta-Well I think that Mel is very good at making her art look real like surrealist art that is actually real
Gabriel-I think that Mel is very good at doing Samoan designs and showing who she really is.

Why poem

Poem
Dark, dusty pitch black
Angry
Frustrated
Boom! kapow! pow!
Can't survive just for one flower
The flower is so wonderful and sweet
They will never leave there side
She will always be planted deep inside my heart
The flower is special friend
So wonderfully and truthful too
The flower is a special friend
Like the one I have in you

Why by Mel

Mel'2 2017 legacy statment

Mel’s 2017 Legacy Statement.
End of year report 2017

I've learned that people will forget what you did, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.  Mel is good at making people feel happy when they are upset, mad or miserable because when she sees them sad Mel encourages and supports them.

Mel is such a great year 6 girl. She is always keen to work and listens with so much respect.

Mel is a very helpful and supportive person (e.g.) during play, she helps set up activities alongside the teachers and other tutors.

Mel is able to use the k.c. skill participating and contributing. She is always willing to share her clever thinking with others during maths, reading and inquiry.

This year Mel has participated in many events like poly club, sportfest and poly fest. In Poly club Mel has learnt a lot of songs and dances, all from different cultures.

The key competency skills Mel used during Polyfest, was self managing, she was able to stay focused on the items.

Last year Mel participated mini polo. She has learnt helping people how to swim and get the ball.the key competencies Mel used w room and miss out the fun.Mel is a successful learner because she  can reflect on her learning and talk about what she is  good at, and what she will  need to work on. She has also improved her self management skills because she was able to do this without any help.

A goal that Mel has  achieved was able to showing leadership when the year 7s &8s went to there camp,And i was able step up for the year 7 and 8s when they went to their Camp,Mel and Trinity done the karakia when they went to camp.

She can help  make her classroom a safe, fun, and quality learning environment by
Making sure that they are on the website and not going on hangouts  and texting people
Make sure that they are listening to the teacher and if they we give them solve it
Make sure that they are alright and contributing with kid’s and visitors
Make sure that they listen to the and make sure that they know what to do.
Mel’s  job is,At the end of the day she will go check on Nk (No kitchen) if the floor is spick and span if it is she will go tell a teacher like Kate collins,Ardelle and Katie or a (any) student,And her responsibility is if she see’s big rubbish or pen on the floor she will have to pick it up,And if she doesn't she will get solve it.
Mel is  good at working in group because she  can tell all her ideas and contribute with people in her  maths group{n and not be a passenger and she will challenge others to explain and justify what Mel or her group done to make sure that they  know what we done.

The Key Competency Mel use the most  to support her learning is listening to her wonderful teacher’s and students with repeat what Claudia said”  and she will try to her best to repeat if she don't know what Claudia said then Mel will respectfully ask her to repeat what she said but a little louder.

The books Mel likes to read are graphics books, non fiction book’s because it interests her and tells Mel more about what she already does and doesn’t know.

Mel has achieved a principal's award last year for being motivated in learning while writing, and this year for being positive and contributing with other kids.

The learning that Mel like’s to do the most at school is writing because it is a fun way of sharing learning and contributing with people

Mels next steps are to be a confident girl and step up to others

Well I Ms Whiting hope you all know about Mel and her life at corinna school
I hope you enjoyed it  bye bye now.
