Poly fest learning story

Polyfest learning story

Mita mita ga tasi tasi sau.”
Hello, have you ever been to Hosanna Church ? Well I have. Anyways the name is Mel.

On the  10th of August at Hosanna Church, Corinna School participated in an event known as Polyfest. Polyfest is a NZ wide event that many schools, groups (etc) are involved in. It’s a way for children and adults to communicate a story about their culture through song and dance.

On the day I performed the key competencies I used were supporting others when they are on the stage so they can feel confident and happy, being responsible of my stuff and using respectful words to others.

I was good at learning the words off by heart and singing it like I am a superstar that is going to be famous,I was bad at looking forward but instead I was looking at the floor like a sad flower left in the rain all alone .

I felt kinda nervous but at the same time I was happy to make my Mum and Dad happy and proud like I just won a $1,000 cheque.

When I took my first step on the stage I knew it was time to shine bright like a diamond! I felt my sweaty palms  because I was so nervous I was going to puke in front of the audience.

I saw people getting ready to flash their camera light at me and my Samoan group,I also saw my Mum,Dad and sister sitting way at the back.

When i came down from the stage I heard everyone cheering for the Samoan group,When i sat down i was cheering for people who tried there best

Mel's art learning story

Art learning story

“Drawing is honesty of the art.T here is no possibility of cheating it is either good or bad.”

What we have been learning:
In art we have been learning how to communicate important information and ideas about my identity using a surrealist style?

What is surrealism?
What is surrealism you say, well I was just about to tell you. Surrealism is a cultural movement that began in the early 1920s in France. It is a style of art where half is art and half is real.

What I need to work on:
I need to work doing nice light lines on my real one so that it can look nice and real when I put on the wall.
What I was good at:
I was really good at choosing my contrasting colors when I start on my real one

Success I used well
The S.C I used well was making it look real and not worrying about if it doesn’t look the same

In my class we are doing surrealism art it's a type of art where you make something look real but its not. Like this

What other people think about me and my art:
Kaylah-I think that Mel is very good at using light lines on when start’s on  her real  art and she doesn’t really care if it looks the same or not
Sareta-Well I think that Mel is very good at making her art look real like surrealist art that is actually real
Gabriel-I think that Mel is very good at doing Samoan designs and showing who she really is.
